FFA celebrates the holidays at the Winterfest
Students sip their hot chocolate in the cold winter at the Future Farmers of America [FFA] Winterfest as they are in line for the petting zoo. Recently, FFQ held a Winterfest with fun events and winter drinks along with a snowman ship for their animals.
“We had fun games, drinks, food, and a petting zoo along with a concession stand,” FFA secretary Hannah Shepard said.
The winter activities incorporated FFA related activities and there were boutiques as well, which advertised the program.
“We had various activities, including Chicken Poop Bingo, a pie eating contest, and booths on agricultural education,” FFA member Grace Burden said. “We also had booths from different boutiques selling clothing, homemade goods, and jewelry.”
The FFA members also displayed the skills of their animals by following directed instructions like walking their animal across the field as the judges grade their animals on their abilities.
“We had a show where our animals we take care of had to undergo in a showmanship for our lambs, goats, pigs, and steers,” Shepard said.
The FFA had an amazing outcome of spreading awareness about their organization all while competing and winning big prizes for Bowie High School.
“There were quite a few people and families but we hope there is an even larger outcome next year,” said Burden.
