Club Day

High school is the time where students are in the midst of finding out who they are and what they like, and a great way to do that is by joining various clubs offered at Bowie. Clubs are a great way to meet new people and explore different things that could be surprisingly engaging, discover new hobbies, or find others that share a common interest to you. Senior and Key Club Vice President Emma Roche shared her experience being involved in a club and how it has added to her time in high school throughout her years of commitment.

“I think clubs impact a student’s high school experience because it gets you more involved with Bowie and you get to make a lot of friends and become a really important member in the Bowie community,” said Roche.

Beyond being an additional activity for students to express their interests, the benefits of joining a club continue and can have positive effects on one’s school career during high school and even continue to college. Roach explained the benefits she feels she gained whilst in different clubs, and how her place in school groups have given an advantage during her senior year.

“It’s shaped my high school experience because I really met a lot of great people through clubs and I feel like I’m really a part of Bowie, I don’t feel like I’m just at school I feel like I’m really involved and it’s helped with things like college applications and NHS (National Honor Society),” said Roche.

If there is a club that you are interested in joining, speak with the sponsor or a current member for information on meetings and requirements, and if you have an idea for a new club, grab some friends and find a sponsor to propose your idea to Principal Robinson to start one at Bowie!
