Bowie had twenty three orchestra students participate at the UIL Solo and Ensemble Competition for Orchestra and Guitar. Sixteen students earned a First Division Rating of Superior on their solo with four of the sixteen qualifying for Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest which takes place over Memorial Day Weekend.

Also, there were twenty guitarist at the UIL Solo Competition represent Bowie performing pieces they have worked on for judges. Out of twenty-nine students, seventeen earned a First Division Rating of Superior for their solos. Out of those seventeen performers six will be advancing to the state level contest.
