The First ACL Weekend 2017

There are plenty of festivals for a vast variety of things in Austin. One of the most popular festivals is ACL, short for the Austin City Limits music festival. It comes around once a year and never fails to attract both Austin locals and visitors from all around the United States. ACL is here yet again, and lots of artists with different styles and genres will have concerts for the event. A few of the more popular artists attending ACL include, Gorillaz, Chance the Rapper, The Killers, Jay-Z, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Martin Garrix, Foster The People, Tove Lo, The Head And The Heart, Vance Joy and up to a hundred more.

ACL has 8 stages, lots of foods of different kinds, and it lasts two weekends. October 8th marks the end of the first weekend, so I asked a Bowie student who attended ACL about what they thought about the experience. Gray Cunningham, a sophomore, said that so far he’s seen Chance The Rapper, Foster The People, DRAM, Jay-Z, and Asap Ferg. I asked him what he thought were the best and worst aspects of this ACl weekend, and he said “The best things were seeing my favorite artists, having fun, seeing friends and I enjoyed Tiff’s Treats ice cream and cookies. My least favorite thing was how hot it was outside.”

When asked which performances were his favorite, Cunningham answered, “My favorites were Asap Ferg, Chance the Rapper and Jay-Z. Also, Ice Cube played and that was pretty awesome.” Gray says he definitely plans on coming back next year.

Of course the remaining weekend of ACL starts October 13th and ends October 15th, so there’s plenty more music, food, and experiences to come.
