Late Start Traditions

Marisa Salazar, Staff Writer

A major part of the high school experience is the numerous late starts during the year, when classes are delayed and students have an extra two hours before school to themselves. From getting breakfast with their friends to catching up on sleep, students use late start time in various ways, including Freshman Grace Swift. Swift and six of her friends gathered at Kerbey Lane to enjoy breakfast before school.

Surrounded by her friends and a spread of breakfast dishes, Swift explained the best part of late start for her.

“Getting to sleep in and doing fun things with my friends in the morning,” Swift said.

The transition from middle school to high school comes with new things, but Swift explained how late starts are unfamiliar compared to her previous routines.

“It’s different because they are more frequent and it’s good to have that advantage,” Swift said.

The next late start is scheduled for October 5th, so take this opportunity to make plans with friends or use this time to your advantage.
