Where is Evans now?

We take a look back to simpler times, 2014. Back in 2014 Carolyn Evans was a student at Bowie and was a track sensation. We caught up with her to see where she is now.

“I go to [Stephen F. Austin] and I’m on the track and cross country team. I’m not going to lie, it was a struggle adjusting to a new atmosphere, school, team, town, all of that stuff,” Evans said. “But honestly being part of the XC and track team and already having a group of good friends had made it so much easier and enjoyable.”

While she is thriving where she is now, she has a lot to thank her high school years for. She takes a moment to reflect on the things she would come to miss most about her track career.

“I miss track meets in general and the down time we had between races where we all hung out as a team eating snacks, playing card games, hanging in hammocks, throwing a frisbee and just doing and talking about basically anything but running,” Evans said.

While she has moved onto the next chapter in her life Evans knows she has gained lifelong memories, experience, and friends from her years on track. Before she went back to her reality of college lectures, exams, and adulthood she shared with us what track meant to her and urges others to join the track family.

“It’s just a cool feeling to be at a track meet where there’s a whole bunch of people with completely different backgrounds, personalities, and experiences yet we’re all there to do the same thing; run fast and turn left,” Evans said. “If you have a passion for for running join the team, it’ll turn into your second family and that’s a nice thing to have in high school.”
