Bowie high school has recently given students ID badges must be worn at all times. However, a lot of students don’t enjoy wearing badges. There have been many complaints from students.

“I hate always having to [wear] my ID,” Bowie student Tiana Sandoval said. “It’s very inconvenient if I forget it one day and have to buy a temporary one.”

To make students want to wear their IDs, Assistant Principal Ms. Pena came up with a great idea to put off period stickers on the back of the IDs.

“ I knew students would complain and have issues about having to wear the ID’s so I came up with the idea of putting the off period stickers on the back of their id’s,” Pena said.

Since the stickers have been in effect, it has positively affected both students and teachers. It makes it super easy for students to go off campus and for teachers to know which students are allowed to leave.

“A teacher can stop a student that is in the hallways during a class, and when the student shows their ID and they have an off period sticker, (they can leave),” Pena said.

These stickers were made to make it very easy for students to show they are allowed to be in the halls.

“The way I see it is that there are no negatives, it is a very positive thing,” Pena said.

Even though it’s the first year having the id’s and using the off period stickers, the stickers have been effective.

“The off period stickers work so well,” Senior Claire Meyer said. “They make it so easy to communicate to teachers and for teachers to identify who is and isn’t supposed to be in the halls.”
