The use of artificial intelligence in schools should be seriously limited, in both high school and college settings. Beyond the ethical considerations are the economic implications, imagine a classroom without teachers. Imagine a country without teachers. An increased use of AI in schools creates a ripple effect throughout American society.
The median income of teachers in Texas is $57,761, according to The Teachers of Tomorrow. The average cost of living in Texas is $52,299, meaning that a teacher in a single-income household can barely afford the cost of living, let alone purchase housing. Teachers are already devalued in Texas. If teachers are valued even less because AI can “do what they do, but better and cheaper,” what does the future hold for them? What does the future hold for us?
Employment is not just a metric of receiving labor, it’s workers receiving a livable income. AI complicates this, as corporations and governments attempt to standardize their own production and replace workers. Powerful individuals in Washington and Texas, both Democrat and Republican, eye this automation in envy.
Very similar themes of automation, particularly that involving production, have been seen throughout history, with devastating consequences. But AI is not just a traditional production automater, it has the potential to replace all inherently “human” jobs.
This is not an industrial revolution, it is the final summit of the corporation or bureaucracy: complete artificial labor. The replacement of teachers in the West is not just the extortion of millions of employees, but a hallmark for the technocratic takeover of the West.
AI is a commodity of the bourgeoisie party. A seemingly open product can be torn from our palms by the essence of one man, cementing its elitist ownership. To teach students to rely on AI is to teach future citizens to rely on the nurturing of the elite. Thus, it is paramount for the masses to combat this “wonder weapon,” and to continue to remain vigilant on these existential trojan horses.
The threat of AI shows us it is once again paramount for the masses to unite behind and attempt to understand such underlying dangers. This is more than left or right, it’s the top against the bottom. To feed the bottom this disease is to cage it upon the jail cell of the top. But this is a particularly paranoid view, though many of it may be true. It is unfortunately a very unpredictable anomaly, and to stay in the center is to conform to inaction. Inaction is what allows this tunnel of action to be revealed.
This is not a call for radical action, rather for awareness of the dangerous revelations that I have attempted to unravel.
A radical that can happen should always be fought against. Indifference in this heat complicates the livelihoods of our peers and family alike. Conclusion without knowledge makes this radical or another forthcoming.
This fight is not a fight of violence nor is it a flight to inaction. This fight is one of consciousness, and independent thought. Awareness is the revelation of independent thought, and thought is the ultimate unifier. AI is the absence of this thought
The knowledge of these radicals is in fact our remedy. In discovery of these radicals we become bent on combating them, through the unifier of thought. What good is a classroom devoid of humanity?
