Senior Goodbye: Dylan Zellner

Dylan Zellner, Opinion Editor

When I first took digital media freshman year I didn’t know what would come of it. I loved creating something that looked appealing and thinking about how it would be viewed. Through that desire, and seeing the passion my sisters had before, I decided to join newspaper. Fighting through COVID and isolation and being apart of the newspaper was a mix of both frustration and awe seeing how everyone in the program adapted and worked around the disconnection we all shared. Now I’m a commentary editor, coming from being the news editor. I’ve always hated sharing my opinion, but that just made my last year here an interesting challenge.

Throughout my time on staff I’ve witnessed and endured having wrong fonts and a page that needs an entire new design simply because the spacing was barely off. I’ll definitely miss coming in everyday to the constant buzz that hovers in Reeve’s room and the rushing of everyone trying to get one last quote. The clapping and sometimes forced cheer whenever an award gets brought to the room to wake anyone up on a slow monday. It will be weird to lose these routines and especially odd to not spend days trying to perfect a page.

I’m very grateful for the time I spent with everyone on staff as well as having the opportunity to be on staff myself. I’m grateful my sisters’ passion infected me, and I’m grateful I’ll be starting a new four years where I’ll get to find a new passion.
