Texas defeated Baylor in a 27-16 contest in which they held control for almost the whole game. Sam Ehlinger passed for 270 yards along with a passing touchdown and 2 rushing touchdowns. Wide receiver Joshua Moore finished the game with 2 catches for 45 yards and a touchdown. The Texas defense stepped up in this game, allowing only 16 points. After week 1 against UTEP, Texas really struggled against opposing offenses, surrendering 56 points to Texas Tech, 33 points to TCU, and 53 to Oklahoma. Texas was able to hold Baylor to only 2 touchdowns and 64 rushing yards. This was a crucial win for Texas after coming off 2 straight losses and controversy surrounding the University of Texas’ school song, “The Eyes of Texas”. There have been claims that the song has a racist undertone and members of the UT marching band refuse to play the song. Despite this problem, Texas will look to build off their momentum as they prepare to travel to Stillwater next weekend for a duel against Oklahoma State. Oklahoma State is currently ranked 6th in the nation and running back Chuba Hubbard is widely considered one of the best in the country. It will be imperative for Texas to find a way to contain Hubbard. This will prove to be a difficult task, as Hubbard has rushed for 479 yards and 5 touchdowns through his first 4 games.
