Because of the substantial amount of free time I have during quarantine,  I have spent too much time on TikTok. A few days ago I was scrolling through my For You Page on TikTok, and I found several people attempting to make “Whipped Coffee.”

The idea of Whipped Coffee has become very popular in South Korea with a trending hashtag of over 5,000 posts. The beverage is called “Dalgona Coffee,” named after the popular honeycomb candy. The concept seemed simple enough. All you have to do is whip together sugar, hot water, and instant coffee until it becomes a cloud-like foam texture, pour it over a glass of milk, add some ice and mix.

At first, I was a little hesitant about trying out this recipe because it seemed so easy and quick that I wondered if it would produce a creamy flavor.  However, I was missing my weekly Starbucks trips, so I decided to try this new trending coffee and see if it lived up to the hype. Over the past few years, I have had some pretty good coffee. I have tried several different flavors of coffee, but I have to admit that was one of the best cups of coffee I have ever had. It tasted a lot like a creamy latte which is what I usually get at the coffeeshops I go to, so it was perfect. Although it tasted super good, I like it when my coffee is a little bit on the sweeter side, so I would add two tablespoons of sugar instead of one tablespoon to make it sweeter. However, if you enjoy having your coffee with less sugar, stick to this recipe.

Overall, this was a pretty good cup of coffee; not to mention, it looked super aesthetic to post as well. So if you are bored and want a nice cup of coffee to drink while doing your online school homework, try this recipe!
