App of the week: Fire Rides

Robbie Warhola, Online Writer

The premise is fairly simple, swing to hit targets and avoid obstacles. In playing this game over the past week, I found that this game was very hard to put down. With constant updates that change the way the game plays and outside mechanics that involve different skins for the ball that you swing with, it was interesting how interactive the game had become.

As the need to conquer my high score grew I found that I was playing the game throughout the weekend. I was hanging out with some friends and we were waiting on someone to get ready and while we waited I just popped out my phone and I knew that I wanted to play Fire Rides. I wanted to beat my high score over and over again. I wanted to collect more and more skins all the while swinging faster and faster.

As I got further and further eventually reaching a score of 300, the game got very intense very quickly. Staying alive was all about the timing and duration of your taps. I would not recommend this game if you have little motivation to do homework because I found that I would rather just push my homework aside and continue the grind of beating my  previous high score and hitting the green targets right in the center to get even more points.

With each perfect hit on a target came bonus points making beating your high score even easier. So, by hitting those targets and maintaining control I thought that it was fairly easy to beat my high score until the speed started climbing and that’s where I struggled.

Overall, if you want a game that is easy to learn and somewhat a challenge to master, then Fire Rides is the app of the week for you.
