New lacrosse field benefit both teams

“No time for practice,” “sun’s going down,” “everyone’s late again.” These are only some of the sayings the lacrosse team doesn’t have to worry about anymore.
Bowie High School is receiving a new field and dedicating it to the lacrosse team, located right across the street from Bowie. The team will finally have a field close by meant for them, which will bring new opportunities for the team.
“I think the new field will improve our team because now that we will be practicing at bowie we will feel more like a Bowie team instead of just some club team,” senior Adam Ybarra said. think it will also improve our performance because it will give the program a sense of organization.
The lacrosse team did not have their own field or practice time, making it difficult to practice together as a team.
“I’m excited to not have to drive all the way to the middle school we have practiced at,” junior Kaedon Solana said, “It’s a good change as for some of the season we can all practice closer to home which helps with conflicts.
Both girls and boys lacrosse teams will be sharing this new field.
“We have been waiting to get approval to access this field for so long, and we are super pumped to be able to now utilize it,” junior Alexandra James said.
Although the team will have to continue to play hard no matter where the location, the field could give them more chances they haven’t had before.
“Where we practice is irrelevant to the intensity with which we do, but it will at least improve the amount of ant piles and dirt spots we have,” Solana said.
Players are looking forward to the new advantages coming with the field.
“Practices will be different because we’ll have more people show up on time due to the shorter commute,” Solana said. “Which also means I have time to eat after school before I go play.
The players hope to form a stronger bond within the team created by the convenience of a new playing area that will allow them to play for a longer period.
“We practice daily after school for 2 hours,” Ybarra said. “Practices will probably stay decently similar to last year other than they might go longer because the field is closer to home for a lot of players.
