280 Characters on Twitter
October 10, 2017
Twitter released a new feature and only some people have it. The old word count for some people is 140 characters, but the new word count for selected people is 280 characters. The reason for this is to test out if it is a good fit for twitter, but the twitter community, including me, is triggered.
Many famous twitter users with thousands of followers are upset that they were not chosen to try out the new feature. The users include; Elijah Daniel, Christine Sydelko, and Scotty Sire, and more.
I think they should have released the feature to everyone and decided to either use it that way. If we used this way, we could have all taken a poll at the end of the testing period with a question of whether we liked the new feature or if we didn’t.
I have notice though, that the people who do have 280 characters and find ways to make a tweet take up the space of your whole screen. This is super annoying because it takes forever to scroll through, but I like seeing other people posting closer to paragraphs which get points across faster. When you run out of room, normally, you write a reply to make a comment to your original tweet. That kinda sucks because you have to keel ending your paragraph/ writing in the middle.
The people that own the 280 characters really like it, which makes all of us twitter lovers angry because we want to try the new feature out. But, then again it would suck if they released the 280 characters, but changed it back to 140 characters.
Did you notice this was 280 words?
