Sing movie review
March 5, 2017
Illumination Entertainment has recently released a family comedy movie called “Sing”. The movie features talking animals living their lives like a human would and when Buster the Koala needs money to save his opera house, he holds a singing competition where the animals compete for the grand prize.
The movie was very entertaining, with good affectionate moments and hilarious moments that kept me laughing the whole movie. At first, I thought the movie was going to be kid cute but boy was I shocked. I would definitely recommend this movie to others if you’re looking for a good laugh.
The movie features the familiar voices of famous actors like Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon and Scarlett Johansson and the beautiful voice of singer-songwriter Tori Kelly. I was first questioning before the movie if some of the actors in the movie could actually sing but I was pleasantly shocked. I loved some of the songs in the movie except for “The way I feel inside” because that song was too slow for me.
Also, I loved the plot line of the movie. Buster the Koala holds a singing competition that’s supposed to help save his opera house from closing and the prize offer was originally $1,000 But with a tiny mistype, everyone thinks there is a $100,000 and the competition becomes more fierce. The competitors also have their own background stories and conflict that the viewer gets to explore throughout the movie and see get resolved.
The background stories were probably my favorite part of the plotline because I love getting to know people’s personalities. My favorite character/background story was Ash the porcupine, a rebellious teenager who was just recently cheated on by her former boyfriend and hopes she will get over him at this competition. I loved her teenage personality and fierceness.
I would give this movie overall a five out of five stars because it was very entertaining and funny and I loved the vast majority of the songs throughout the film. I also love Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, and Tori Kelly. This movie is definitely family friendly and I would recommend seeing this with friends.
