Having been in the newspaper program for four years now has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my high school career. Through this program I have found a passion for writing and discovered what I love. The Dispatch has given me much more than just an extracurricular, I have formed bonds in this classroom that I never would have expected. There have been many twists and turns since my first day in Mr. Reeves classroom for Journalism 1. Having spent many hours working on page designs and jumping through hoops to get interviews, I wouldn’t change a thing looking back. Memories I’ve made in this program are ones I hold dear and close to my heart.
My Family,
You each have awaited every paper distribution and followed my journey closely. I thank you for the support and encouragement. I am extremely grateful to have such supportive family members and bringing home nearly ten papers every issue made my heart happy.
Mr. Reeves,
Coming into high school I knew I would want to be a part of this program, and it has been such an amazing experience. Thank you for encouraging me to succeed in every aspect of the word. I’ve always known I had you in my corner whenever needed. You encouraged me to pursue every other extracurricular I pleased and worked with my schedule to allow me to still be involved and succeed on the Dispatch. We’ve had many talks at your desk about everything other than newspaper. I appreciate the support and allowance for flexibility you’ve given me, and it is an act of kindness I will never forget.
The senior leadership team,
All the laughs I’ve shared with y’all are priceless. The countless jokes and ridiculousness over these past four years have always made me look forward to newspaper with you. Even though we often would get off topic and talk about anything other than paper content, I always knew my day would be picked up after class. Each of you have reminded me of the goodness and kind hearted nature of the world. You all have a wonderful personality and I can’t wait to see all of the successes you each experience. Thank you for a great four years together.
Arlo, Alice and Sydney,
Being able to call y’all friends is something I am proud to say. I look forward to hearing about and watching you each succeed in your fields. Each of you have left a lasting impact on my life and I share many great memories with you. Thank you all for your kindness and genuine hearts. I know you will do great things and I am very proud of each of you.
Closing this letter will be the last words I write for the Dispatch, and that is a very mournful sentence for me to write. This program has given me so much more than I will ever be able to give back to it. I am endlessly grateful for my experiences on this staff and the people on it.
