Newspaper has been a huge part of my high school career. Ever since starting in digital media my freshman year, I knew it was something I was passionate about. I didn’t go into my sophomore year expecting to immediately be writing sports stories. However, that set me up to be a page editor my junior year, which made me have the time of my life.
Mr. Reeves, thank you for believing in me and trusting me with a sports page. I know having a majority of junior page editors isn’t the most trustworthy thing that could have happened, but I think it turned out pretty well, if I do say so myself. I am so appreciative of all the work you’ve done for me and this program… even though you call me Carolyn every chance you get. You’ve been my favorite teacher all 4 years of high school. You always make me and the whole class laugh, even when you are crashing out over the paper and our work ethic. Thank you for all the food you have provided on Saturday workdays; those pizza rolls carried me through the day. Thank you for the snacks you’ve given us… However, I haven’t seen any in quite a while.
Mom and Dad, thank you for supporting me throughout my life. You have always encouraged me to do what I love and pursue things that are important to me. Thank you for being proud of me for every accomplishment, no matter how big or small they were. Y’all pushed me to have high goals and to push myself to achieve these goals. Y’all are the sole reason I made it into Cornell. As much as I’ll miss my friends while at Cornell, I will miss y’all so much more. You guys are my rock. I love y’all so much.
Marissa, I am so happy we got to finally have a class together for the first time since freshman year digital media. You never fail to bring a smile to my face and light up the classroom. We have grown exponentially closer this year, and I couldn’t be more thankful for that. You have continued to be one of the most important people in my life, and I know no matter what happens, I can talk to you and trust you. I love you to infinity and back, and I know LSU is going to be the place for you. Expect visits from me in the Bayou, and you better visit me up in Ithaca. I will miss my best friend. I love you.
Charlotte, the last 2 years together have been an absolute blast. Doing the USA Today crossword every class was the highlight of my days, even though you are so much better at them than I am. I am so thankful for all the help you gave me when deciding on headlines and subheads. You are one of my closest friends, and I love you so much sharta.
Savannah, even though we were never in a newspaper class together, you have been one of my closest friends. I know you are someone I can confide in for anything. I love hanging out with you, and I’ll miss you so much up in New York. I am expecting visits! I love you.
Liberty, you are actually the goat. You’re always there to help when there is something atrocious going on with my page. You seriously held the paper together this year, and we’re all so thankful for it. You will be so unbelievably successful at UT. Will miss you lots.
To the rest of the staff, you have made my time here one I will remember for years to come. Every class was so enjoyable, and I had the best laughs in class. Creating this newspaper with each and every one of you has been a blessing! I wish the best for alllll of you! Good luck next year!
