As senior year comes to an end, it’s surreal to think that a year from now, we will all be living completely different lives. Although I am excited to move on and begin a new chapter in my life, I will also always cherish high school and all of the lessons it has taught me. High school has had numerous ups and downs, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I joined the newspaper staff as a junior, and although I had a rough start, I found my footing and became the commentary page editor by the end of the year. Newspaper has taught me countless lessons, and I will forever miss writing my opinion stories at the last minute since senioritis is very real. I would like to thank Mr. Flick, Mrs. Stiles, and Ms. Gonzales for making my high school experience so special and teaching me much more than just the academic lessons.
Entering high school as a very shy and scared freshman, I feared that I would struggle to find my place. Though I won’t say that it was easy, I am so grateful that I found my place, and I am where I am now. My first year on The Dispatch, being my junior year, was tough because I felt like all of the other juniors had found their place, and I was still trying to find mine. I’d like to thank Elizabeth for helping me adjust to the new environment, answering my millions of questions, and for being my very best friend. Without you, I would never have made it to where I am now, and I will forever be grateful to you.
To Sam, Kate, and Diego, I have loved working with y’all on the commentary pages, and I can’t wait to see all of the amazing things you guys accomplish. You guys are so incredibly talented, and I will miss you guys so much next year! To the rest of the staff, you are all among the most talented and creative people I have met, and I am so excited to see everyone continue to grow and accomplish great things.
To Mr. Reeves, thank you so much for pushing me out of my comfort zone and letting me be the editor of the commentary page. I have learned so much and gained many new skills that I will be able to use for years to come. Your high expectations and care for the staff show just how much you love this publication, and that is why we are so successful. Though my time on The Dispatch has felt far too short, you have had a huge impact on my experience, and I am so appreciative!
Finally, thank you to my amazing parents for being the best mom and dad ever. Without your support, I wouldn’t be half the person I am today, and I love y’all so much. From supporting me through Silver Stars, newspaper, PALS, and numerous other things, you have poured so much into me, and I couldn’t be more proud to be y’all’s daughter.
