I don’t exactly know how to start a goodbye to the newspaper because of how amazing it’s been to be a part of this team. Freshman year was not the easiest for me, coming out of COVID and some family issues. School was harsh, but I got through it by writing. I found love in poetry, and not only did it help me mentally, but academically, I started trying harder to write and decided I wanted to be part of the newspaper. Even though I had been in journalism classes since 6th grade, I always thought it would be for broadcasting or pictures, not writing. I am dyslexic, so even though writing can sometimes be hard, I have learned to like the challenge.
To think I have found my place here is insane in the best way possible. The friendships I have made in this class, I genuinely will never forget. Sometimes it feels like we are some crazy big family. There were so many amazing memories here, but two that stick out the most to me were at Philly when we were going to the awards show I kept joking around how this was going to be boring for me because I did not think I would win any award but my name got called at the time I only heard Bowie so I started clapping and looked around realizing by everyone’s facial expressions that it was me I got called up even though it was an honorable mention I was shocked and learned to not underestimate myself. Then my other favorite memory would be when our editors decided to go to Pluckers trivia, it felt like fun, goodbye as we laughed at each other while stuffing our faces. I am forever grateful to Mr Reeves and the people alongside my journey in this class.
To Audrey-
I am so glad you got to meet your real favorite sibling from the newspaper. As simple as us jumping every time we see each other made my day so much better. I could not imagine if you did not double block thank the heavens. You’re hilarious, so proud of you for getting into those big schools, go wildcats!
To Sam-
I did not expect us to get as close as we did before this year, but I am grateful, even though you’re a tad crazy, you were pretty fun to hang out with. You remind me a lot of my sister in the best way possible. You are genuinely a good person, don’t ever doubt that and just GO FOR IT, DON’T SIT BACK.
To Sofia-
You got some wild hot takes, but I am so grateful to hear them every day. I love your rants and your Nesh games. I truly think you will have so much in college, good luck at UT Hook Em
To Charlotte-
I did not imagine I would get as close to you as I did this year, and I am so happy we did. You are the best roommate I could have ever asked for, even though you run late every single day. I couldn’t have lived without your clothes in Philly, and of course, your jokes. You are soooooo talented, and so much smarter than you realize. Keep grinding towards your passions, you will make it in life, no doubt. Don’t miss me too much next year.
To scary, boss editors-
first off, I want to say I am sorry for how much help I ask for, I know it’s a lot. I could not have gotten this far without you guys working so hard, and we all appreciate you guys more than you know.
To Arden-
I am so glad you double-blocked with me, I love our humor together and our brain rot reels. I can always count on you to be my Roblox buddy. Even our small walks to the vending machines almost every day now make me happy. Good luck to Ole Miss girl.
To other goofballs –
Thanks for putting up with my shit and goofing off with me. You guys make this class so fun to be in. I appreciate each one of y’all goons.
