At James Bowie High School, students can’t order food and have it delivered straight to the school. If they do that, staff will throw away items and the students will be disappointed in the outcome. This rule has angered many students and they sometimes find ways to get their items without the staff intercepting it.
In my opinion, I think that students should be able to get food delivered to the school for many reasons. Some of those reasons include that it would decrease traffic and crashes near the campus during lunch times, it would give students more food choices, it would prevent some students from being late to class after lunch and it would help increase the safety of underclassmen who leave without having permission.
If students were able to deliver food to the school and receive it properly it would help reduce the safety of so many students, staff and even other citizens. When students go off campus to buy food and then come back there are so many things that could happen.
These students could easily get into a crash or really any other situation that puts their safety in risk. These students also increase the amount of traffic at peak lunch time which causes a delay for everything. Also, since lunch isn’t that long, students speed to get to their food and back to school on time which is very dangerous.
This could also be great for students because they would get a wider variety of food choices since some people might not like the choices in the cafeteria. The school has a pretty wide variety for almost anything that someone wants to eat but sometimes they might not have specific things, which is a perfect example of where being able to deliver food to the school would be very helpful.
On the other hand, if students were able to deliver any food they wanted it could lead to lots of unhealthy eating habits and they might be misusing that and ordering junk food all the time instead of eating the healthy, well-balanced school lunch food.
To help manage this problem, the administration could put restrictions on what restaurants students could order from. For example, no candy stores are allowed but instead, students could order from actual restaurants. Putting limits like those would help get the best of both worlds.
I think that students should be allowed to deliver food to school because it would help improve upperclassmen attendance after lunch, the safety and traffic problems of students and staff around campus during lunch times, and the safety of underclassmen who leave campus to get food without permission.
