Cupprimo is a cupcake joint that just recently opened in May. They are located on William Cannon, and they open at 7 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. on the weekdays and on Sundays they open at 8 a.m. and close at 4 p.m.
There are plenty of flavors to choose from, like red velvet, strawberry, tuxedo, margarita, birthday cake, boozy lemon drop and plenty more. You can even take your children to a small station where they can make fake cupcakes. I thought that was super cool.
“We usually come in around 6ish to make sure we get everything done, we also tend to have everything baked and ready to go by 7:15,” an employee Anne said.
I think this place was decent. I’m not head over heels about cupcakes, but the red velvet cupcake was probably my favorite. Red velvet tastes like very mild cocoa with a slightly tart edge. The cream cheese frosting is the most forward flavor. Perhaps even more important than the taste is the texture: smooth, soft, tender and light with creamy icing.
The second cupcake that I enjoyed was the strawberry cupcake. It typically starts with a soft and moist vanilla or strawberry-flavored cake base, infused with fresh strawberry pieces or strawberry purée. The cupcake is often topped with a generous swirl of strawberry buttercream frosting, which is both creamy and bursting with strawberry flavor. Some might add a fresh strawberry on top for an extra touch. The combination of the sweet, fruity cake and the rich, flavorful frosting makes it a deliciously refreshing dessert.
The lemon boozy drop was my third favorite, which combines the tangy flavor of lemon. The cupcake typically has a moist lemon-flavored base, often enhanced with lemon zest and juice to give it a fresh, citrusy taste. The “boozy” part usually comes from a lemon liqueur or vodka, which can be incorporated into the batter or brushed onto the baked cupcakes for extra flavor. The frosting is often a lemon buttercream, made with butter, powdered sugar, and more lemon juice or zest, sometimes with a splash of the same alcohol used in the cupcake. The cupcakes are usually topped with a lemon slice or zest curls for garnish.
They had plenty of drinks, like coffee, smoothies, frappés, espresso-based drinks and non-coffee drinks. Since this is a relatively new bakery, the drink options were more limited besides the cupcakes on display.
I would recommend that you keep the cupcakes in a tightly sealed container or else they will become dry. Not only that, the cupcake frosting is butter cream and that only takes 20 to 30 minutes to completely dry up and that is definitely a lot faster than regular frosting. The day I got them, the cupcakes were completely fresh, then the next day the cupcakes were kind of dry and didn’t taste as good as the same day I got them.
