The varsity volleyball team welcomes Coach McGill, whose extensive experience and dedication is destined to excellence to the team this year.
Coach McGill brings her vast experience in coaching volleyball, making this year her 22nd year of coaching and 13th at Bowie. Her primary goal this year includes securing a spot in the playoffs.
“[The team and I are] taking it one game at a time and playing our best,” McGill said.
She can’t wait to continue being head coach from this point forward as she sees her players as leaders.
“Be leaders, set an example, and work hard,” McGill said. “I just love seeing the players being successful.”
For seasoned members of the team, the news of a new head coach was something to get used to.
“It was shocking,” varsity right Audrey Savasky said. “She’s going to be a really good coach this year.”
Similarly, Ella McCoy, varsity right side and middle, was also stunned but excited about the news of the new head coach, as she was one of her coaches the year prior. Many students agree, she’s been a wonderful fit for the team and has already made the team closer.
While this is her first time teaching as a head coach here at Bowie, the team is off to a great start in the season and is ready to win more games. While the players do have a huge impact on how the game goes, so does the coach. The coaches have to determine a perfect game plan to win the game.
“I think [McGill] will make aspects of [the sport] more successful,” Savasky said. “The rest is up to us.”
With strong players and an amazing coach, the team is bound to end up victorious under the guidance of coach McGill.
The addition of Coach McGill has won them many games so far and the team can’t wait to see her make the team an even better group of girls as they continue to work hard and play their best in every game that comes their way.
