Monday, Oct. 12, students had the day off of school because of Columbus day. Unfortunately, the teachers had to attend school on that day. They came to school for what was called a health day. It was to help the teachers manage stress and to be a better and healthier teacher.

The teachers came to school and signed up for classes that they wanted. They had to come earlier than normal so that it wasn’t all day, and if they wanted to they could have gotten some work done here at school.

“The health day started at 8:00 a.m. in the morning and ended at 3:30 p.m.,” spanish teacher Ignacio Ruiz said

Students, however, were able to enjoy their Monday off and got to spend the day how they wanted.

“I hung out with my family on Columbus day,” sophomore Annie Huyen said.

They offered a variety of classes throughout the day so that the administration could meet everybody’s interest.

“Some of the classes they offered were Yoga, walking, Zumba, nutrition, How to deal with stress etc…  It was to help us be a better teacher,” Ruiz said.

Some students thought that this health day should be offered to the students as well.

“Sometimes we might make mistakes and we should learn about it and learn how to manage stress,” Huyen said.

Most teachers had their favorite classes that they attended.

“My favorite classes were the nutrition class and the whole foods presentation class,” Ruiz said.

Some students think that the health day should start being a normal thing every Columbus day.

“It is going to benefit both the teacher and the student,” Huyen said
