Go Guardian is an invasion of privacy

The other side of Go Guardian is the fact that people can be monitored and I don’t agree with this. This monitoring can destroy the trust of a teacher and their students.

Go Guardian is an app to monitor students’ test taking. This app is used by over 10,000 plus schools worldwide. I believe Go Guardian is a trash app. I say this because for one it limits the number of tabs open, it’s an invasion of privacy and it can make students lose their teacher-student relationships. I feel like it makes my teachers only care about my grades not my mental health, aka lost trust in student-teacher relationships

As a student I know the struggles of only having limited tabs because I have three tabs open always: The Portal, Blend and Spotify, and I feel like we should have as many tabs as we want open.

It’s also an invasion of privacy. For example, whenever you finish a test you have to wait till everyone is done and you want to look something up related to mental health or a YouTube video. The teacher sees everything because of this app and that’s personal information.

This app makes me feel like my teachers only care about my grades, not my mental health and also destroys student-teacher relationships. According to medium.com when teachers have a healthy classroom environment students will come to them for mental health, but when a teacher uses technology to monitor the students it destroys that healthy classroom environment.

The other side of Go Guardian is the fact that people can be monitored and I don’t agree with this. This monitoring can destroy the trust of a teacher and their students.

Another part of the other side’s argument is the fact that you can see when a student was doing good and when they were struggling. I agree with this because it shows where you struggled and the teacher can help you with what you struggled in.

If you had other things open like music or another assignment and you didn’t save the assignment or you were listening to an interesting podcast/song, like what do you do?

My solution for this issue would be to get another app called Dyknow classroom. Dyknow is an app that not only monitors students but you can message them too and even review their device activity too.

This goes to show that Go Guardian isn’t a good app for students and teachers to be using. With its limits, destroying classroom relationships, and the fact it’s an invasion of privacy it just shows it isn’t a good app.
