Speech and Debate Westlake and LASA TFA Double Tournament Results

Last weekend Speech and Debate competed in at both the Liberal Arts and Science Academy and Westlake High School. The team came home with three state qualifiers, including Bella Barkkume who qualified by winning both tournaments in Dramatic Interpretation.

Dramatic Interpretation:

First place at Westlake- Bella Barkkume

First place at LASA- Bella Barkkume

Varsity Public Forum Debate:

Quarter-finalists (Top 8) at Westlake- Cristian Abarca and Gabe Watts

Quarter-finalists (Top 8) at LASA- Grant Barden and Olivia Bard

Humorous Interpretation:

First place at Westlake- Bella Barkkume

Third place at LASA- Bella Barkkume

Congressional Debate:

Sixth place at Westlake- Hunter Sharp

During the tournaments, three students qualified for state. Cristan Abarca and Olivia Baird in Public Forum Debate and Bella Barkkume in Dramatic Interpretation for winning both tournaments.
