Last Tuesday, the Bowie Swim and Dive team participated in the annual King and Queen of Springs run and swim race at Barton Springs. Sophomore Summer Ferguson was crowned the winning Queen. Seniors David Lax, Colton Chalmers, and Freshman Rowan Cox were all crowned winning Kings.

“I was in first place the whole race,” Lax said. “Then my friends snuck up on my blind side and we all sprinted to finish in a three-way tie.”

The athletes ran 2 miles and swam 400 meters down and back in the brisk Barton Springs water.

“Colton and I had both been trying to win since freshman year,” Lax said. “So it was great that in the last race of our high school careers we tied.”
