Illumination Entertainment released a sequel to their 2017 movie Sing, which is Sing 2. This movie focuses on a koala named Buster Moon and his cast of animal performers who are preparing for their stage performance. The movie features many popular actors’ voices including Reese Witherspoon, Halsey, Scarlett Johansson, Matthew McConaghey and many others.
The movie was very entertaining and had very good storylines throughout the movie. There weren’t any parts in the movie where I was bored and it included lots of trendy songs and kept me laughing and a smile on my face. Even if you haven’t watched Sing, you can still understand what is going on in the movie.
Sing 2 is a sequel to Sing and is based around the storyline of the director Buster Moon and his cast of performers who are told they aren’t good enough to perform professionally. Moon doesn’t listen and takes his cast to Las Vegas to perform in front of Jimmy Crystal. Jimmy picks his cast to be the one he funds and Buster and his team prepare for their performance. Moon lied to Jimmy by saying he knew one of the most famous singers, Clay Calloway, when he actually did not and that he could get him in the show. Once Jimmy finds out that Moon lied to him, he gets very angry and traps him in a room. Moon escapes from the room, and goes behind his back to make the show happen, and even uses his daughter as one of the characters in the show. Jimmy shows up during the performance and tries to sabotage the show, however it didn’t work and Moon’s show went on perfectly.
My favorite part was when Porsha Crystal, who is the daughter of Jimmy Crystal, showed up to the set and sang. Jimmy is the one who is paying for the show to be made. Porsha shows up to the set of the movie and says that she had a dream that she was at the set. She jumps off the ledge and starts singing “This Girl is on Fire” by Alica Keys. This moment from the movie kept me very interested and Halsey plays Porsha, so the singing was really good.
Another part of the movie that I really enjoyed was the end of the movie when they finally got to perform their show. This moment stood out to me because after all of the struggles and all of the preparation of the show it was nice to see it all come together. The performance was very entertaining and all of the actors did a good job singing as well as performing.
Overall, the movie was worth the time to watch and was very entertaining. The movie also had a very good storyline and popular songs that most of the audience will know. I would recommend this movie to everyone to watch and it is a good movie to see with family or friends.
(Rating: PG for some rude material, mild peril, and violence. The genre is a comedy/ musical. Running time: 1 hour, 50 minutes. The movie is available to watch in movie theaters.)
