The Coronavirus pandemic has caused many to worry about where they will be able to stock up on supplies quickly. The perks of going to a small but uncrowded store can be just what our community needs the next couple of months. The Brodie Park Market now offers both convenience and cleanliness.

The market was established in 2009 and is not your typical convenience store. It offers a broad array of household items and is continuously expanding its surface by bringing in new things that customers have been demanding. It is located on the southwest corner of Brodie Ln. and Davis Ln. The market is about a five to seven-minute drive from Bowie depending on how heavy the traffic is.

Even with the other businesses surrounding the market, the area has plenty of space for customers to stay healthy when attempting to get snacks, supplies, or even novelty’s from here. For those worried about the virus, it is worth your time to head here and grab something on the go when needed.

When arriving at the market on a Wednesday afternoon, there was one other car in the parking lot just outside of the store. I decided to park in the parking spots right near the store that had a sign in the front saying Brodie Park Market customers only, which is convenient for those using the store as a necessity. As I opened the door, I didn’t even know where to start. There was a wide variety of unique items that I have never really seen before. Not only that, but the place was pretty quiet.

When going through each of the isles, I realized that they had all the novelties or household items that one would need, which instantly caught my attention because there were a lot of them too.

So when looking at what they had to offer, I noticed a black, skinny object with what looked like sword patting towards the end. I was very confused because I never really expected there to be a sword at a convenience store. However, once I looked closer at the tag, it said it was a Katana umbrella, which I think is pretty neat.

As I continued to look through the store, it was a little awkward because it seemed like the cashier was continually looking at what the customers were doing, since the store was so quiet. I don’t usually mind, but since it was quiet too, I felt like every little noise I made or the amount of time I took looking around the place made the cashier feel a little bit on edge.

I went to the area with all the food and snacks, I came across some Popin Cookin candy (Japanese candy making kit), which was weird because I have never really seen them in this area of Austin. I would usually have to go to the north side of Austin, where there are many Asian markets to purchase an item like this.

Not only that, but they had a coffee station, an area for breakfast foods where the cashier is, laundry needs, oil for your motor or brakes on your car, clothing, accessories, jewelry, toys, bathroom essentials, and so much more.

Overall, the prices for the food and essentials were great, but the novelties were a little bit pricey, especially for smaller items. Regardless, the experience at the Brodie Park Market was well worth it.
