In 2015, Disney and Sony made a deal to allow Spiderman to be featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in result, Sony benefited with profit from the movie. However, in August of 2019, the deal between Sony and Disney was broken.

The deal was broken off because Disney wanted more money from Sony, but they refused which lead them taking out their investment in Spider-man. Without the deal, Spider-man had to leave the MCU, consequently Sony didn’t make money off of the recent Marvel films.

The split between Disney and Sony upset a large number of people because Tom Holland’s Spider-man, and the spider-man character himself, was favored by a majority of the Marvel fanbase.

I think the fan base is really upset and heartbroken but I also think they still have hope for the future[/pullquote]“I feel sad because I won’t see Spiderman in the movies anymore,” freshman Carson Garcia said.

Although many are upset by this recent news, fans still have hope.

“I think the fan base is really upset and heartbroken but I also think they still have hope for the future,” Sophomore Jayvon Newcoste said.

Since the split, Sony has received a lot of backlash for removing such a favored character that has only been featured for a couple of years. However, this leads fans to believe that Sony and Disney will find a solution because of all the backlash and the decline in money.

“They’ll for sure have him back, it’s too much money for them to lose,” Sophomore Kaylee Garcia said.
