On Wednesday, May 9, the Bowie Ultimate Frisbee team competed in and won the State Championship against LASA, Hyde Park, NPA, Marcus HS, Coppel, and St. Thomas. They swept the tournament winning all six of their games and getting the first place trophy.

“I am so happy for the team,” faculty sponsor Kelly Tagle said. “They have been working for years to build this program and this year their play really came together.”

Tagle was able to attend one of the games in the Plano tournament to support the Ultimate Frisbee club.

“I am proud of the players commitment to Ultimate [Frisbee],” Tagle said. “It’s a great sport that requires athleticism and sportsmanship.”

Tagle herself has not played any Ultimate Frisbee games but she was willing to sponsor the club for the players.

“I love to throw the frisbee and play catch, but haven’t yet played an Ultimate Frisbee game,” Tagle said.

They went undefeated in Plano after getting this club built and having people join and work to make it better.

“It’s an honor to sponsor the Bowie Ultimate Frisbee team,” Tagle said. “I hope to be supporting them and cheering them on for many years to come.”
